SUMMARY:Financial Forum — South Lake Middle School
DESCRIPTION:Financial Forum curriculum gives students the opportunity to learn about and practice financial investment\, making a real-world connection that may not be available in the classroom. Students that register will attend three 90-minute sessions on personal financial matters.\n\n \n\nWEEK 1:\n\nFoundational information and exercises on budget and savings will be covered\, with homework assignments to be completed online. Exercises include information on credit cards\, compound and simple interest and the significance of how they differ\, research market trends\, the time value of money\, and the definition of "earning season."\n\n \n\nWEEK 2:\n\nIntroduction to Investing & Stock Market Game: Each student receives a virtual $20k to invest. Through exercises in an online game\, students learn their assignments of tracking their mock investments using actual activity of real companies over a period of several weeks. \n\n \n\nTHIRD SESSION/WEEK 7: \n\nReview of Stock Market game. Prizes will be awarded to Best Budgeter\, Best Investor\, and Best Total Saver.
