DESCRIPTION:The Business Advocacy Speaker Series monitors legislation\, environmental statutes\, and political issues of concern that may impact the business environment in Irvine and neighboring cities. Speakers provide insight on issues and projects affecting businesses\, members\, and residents in greater Irvine. \n\n\n\nJennings Imel is vice president of the Western Region in the Government Affairs Division at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. The office is responsible for legislative and political grassroots activities in Arizona\, California\, Hawaii\, Nevada\, and Utah in support of the Chamber's national public policy goals.  \n\n\n\nBefore joining the U.S. Chamber in 2013\, Jennings worked in Washington\, D.C.\, at the U.S. Association of Former Members of Congress and at the public affairs firm Mercury\, Clark & Weinstock. Earlier\, he worked in the California State Assembly and managed and worked on several successful congressional and state legislative campaigns\, mostly in Southern California.  \n\n\n\nJennings received a master's degree in international affairs from The George Washington University and bachelor's degrees in political science and German from the University of California\, Riverside. \n\n\n\nBusiness Advocacy meetings are for Greater Irvine Chamber members only.
